Michaela "Kaela" Danso is a nascent witch who becomes a Charmed One and, together with Mel and Maggie Vera, restores the Power of Three after the death of Macy. She is the middle sister of the Vera-Danso sisterhood of the Charmed Ones, meaning she must protect innocents and occasionally save the world.

Kaela was a witch with heightened abilities due to her being a Charmed One. Along with her basic witch abilities (casting spells and brewing potions), Kaela was also a manifestator meaning she was able to make objects and beings in artistic creations come to life. Furthermore, she could also access the Power of Three, the collective power of the Charmed Ones, allowing them to vanquish the most powerful of demons.

Early Life

Nothing is known about her other than that she was born on December 11, 1995, to the mortal couple Zephyr and Carolyn Vales, and was left at a fire station in Philadelphia without a name. She was adopted, named, and raised by a Ghanaian couple, Mr. Danso and Evelyn Danso.

Kaela didn't learn she was adopted until the age of 12. In high school, she occasionally worked as a night watchperson.

Before 2016, Kaela was diagnosed with leukaemia and did not respond well to traditional chemotherapy. Her doctors recommended an experimental treatment called "the Progenitor Project," which she was accepted into. This treatment eventually saved Kaela's life, due to Macy Vaughn donating her stem cells during Kaela's cancer treatment. Kaela became a witch with dormant magical powers when her cancer went into remission in 2016-2017. Five other people had received Macy's stem cells, but none of them developed magical powers or became Charmed Ones.

Sometime between 2021 and 2022 (presumably after the death of Macy Vaughn), Kaela started having dreams about Mel and Maggie Vera, the Command Center, and presumably the exploits of the Charmed Ones. She began painting her dreams on canvas, including artwork of the creation of a black amber marble, as well as drawings within her sketchbook.

Powers and Abilities

Basic Powers:

• Spell Casting: The ability to cast spells and perform rituals.

• Potion Making: The ability to brew magical potions.

Active Powers:

• Manifestation - The ability to make objects and beings in artistic creations come to life. This is Kaela's primary power.

• Transmutation: the power to transform an inanimate object from one form into another. This ability can also be accessed as an expansion of Manifestation.
• Artistic Replication: Her power allows her to multiply an object she has drawn as many times as she wants, without the object coming out of the page. The replication effect can be stopped once the drawing is destroyed.
• Conjuration: As a branch of manifestation, Kaela was capable of conjuring things with the use of art, most likely just by thought.
• Life Manipulation: the limited ability to give or take life to some extent. Kaela Danso has demonstrated the ability to make butterflies from her drawings come to life, and take away a Nekomata Cat's life, by using hashes as symbols, as Nekomatas have tally marks on their wrists indicating their remaining lives; each hash drawn by Kaela had a lethal biological reaction to her victim.
• Reality Warping: the power to manipulate reality on a cosmic scale and alter it to one's own desire. In season 5,  Macy did manifest this power shortly after swapping her powers with Kaela because she was jealous that her sisters accepted Kaela so quickly; however, Kaela manifested reality to normal again.

Demon Blood Empowerment: Due to the circumstances, Kaela was diagnosed with leukaemia, not responding well to the traditional chemotherapy. Her doctors recommended an experimental treatment called "the Progenitor Project," which she was accepted into, and eventually saved Kaela's life due to Macy Vaughn donating her stem cells during Kaela's cancer treatment. Kaela became a witch with dormant magical powers which gives her some demonic powers but it is unknown if Kaela's powers were going to be when asked if would be the same as Macy's.

• Pyrokinesis: Kaela awakened the ability to project fire from her hand in the season 5 middle episode. According to Harry, this ability Kaela inherits from Macy's demonic side.
• Limited Shapeshifting: Kaela could also change her eye colour when her demonic side took over, either glowing red or the entire eyeball would turn black like Macy did once; however, her sisters calmed her down.
• Pain Resistance: A new demonic trait that has thickened her skin and frayed her nerves, dulling her pain receptors.
• Voice Manipulation: Kaela often was overwhelmed by her demon side; her voice would deepen and sound more threatening.
• Demonic Translation: the ability to read Illevaihcam (also known as the Devil's Tongue).

Inactive Powers:

• The Power of Three - The bond and connection between Kaela and her sisters, known as the Charmed Ones, is said to be the most powerful trio of witches. Kaela and her sisters use their powers to protect innocent lives and vanquish demons, often invoking their joint "Power of Three" to defeat their enemies. Evidently, certain spells require the Power of Three and cannot be cast by even the most powerful witches, like Charity Callahan.

• Resistance: Presumably through the Power of Three, the Charmed Ones can resist the effects of having their memory erased to a certain extent, allowing the memories to slowly bleed back through.

• Immunity - Being a witch, Kaela is inherently immune to certain magical abilities (e.g., the Sirens' songs and Pixie Dust).

Former Powers

Active Powers:

• Telekinesis: The move objects with her mind. Last season, 5, Macy and Kaela switched their bodies accidentally; however, Harry saw how strange Kaela acted around him and sensed it was magic. Used by Kaela in Macy's body to try to move objects to levitate and throw a shield at the demon.

Skills:

• Artistic skills: Kaela is an excellent artist. She likes to paint murals on walls and canvas, and even has sketchbooks. With her power now awakened, she has begun learning to use her art for her manifestation power.

• Singing: Kaela started singing with Maggie back in the time 1925, "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Sandwich".

Weaknesses

• Mortality: Despite being a witch, Kaela is still mortal and still has many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural humans (e.g., age, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.). She is also a leukaemia survivor.

• The Destruction of the Sisterhood: Despite the Power of Three being one of her greatest strengths, it is also a burden. Being a Charmed One, she and her sisters are susceptible to the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction, where one Charmed One of each generation dies of unnatural causes due to the Power of Three. Since every generation of Charmed Ones met a tragic end due to the Power of Three, the chances of Kaela going through the process of the destruction of the sisterhood are nigh.

• Kaela Danso and Harry Greenwood: Harry initially had a hard time accepting Kaela as Macy's replacement, and things didn't improve when he started teaching her witchcraft. In the end, they came to terms and warmed up to each other.

• Kaela Danso and Brynn: Brynn is her best friend and the first to find out about Kaela being a witch. Brynn is supportive when Kaela decides to move to Seattle, but not before making her promise to keep in touch.

Romantic Life

• Kaela Danso and Harry Greenwood: Harry initially had a hard time accepting Kaela as Macy's replacement, and things didn't improve when he started teaching her witchcraft. In the end, they came to terms and warmed up to each other. In season 5, Kaela starts romantic feelings towards Harry, a former whitelighter, even though she knows Harry mourns Macy and tries to forget Harry going on dates with others.

• Kaela Danso and Dev Banerjee: They first met at the Blue Camellia. Dev was unaware that she was the new Charmed One, and Kaela caught him exiting the bathroom with two female patrons, barely zipping up his pants. This annoyed Kaela. The next time they met, Dev offered Kaela his help after overhearing her asking for Roxie. However, she turned him down outright until he showed her his unique affinity for music in magic. He was also able to help her learn how to better control her manifesting power, effectively duplicating a glass of martini before multitudes of martinis began to appear. Duncan then blew out Kaela's candle, sending her back to the Command Center, along with Dev, who was holding her hand. Dev realized that she was the new Charmed One, whom he had dismissed as a rumour. Even though Dev was attracted to Kaela, he put distance between them after that until he realized he couldn't fight their connection, resulting in them kissing and having sex. She wanted it to be a one-night stand, but admitted to wanting a date when the time for them was right. The two of them soon began a budding romance, until the untimely death of Dev at the hands of Sunny when he refused to back down to the Unseen. After coming across Dev's body, Kaela avenged him by using his blood and counting down the remainder of Sunny's life. Later that night in the Vera Manor, she broke down, resulting in Maggie and Mel comforting her when she opened his gift to her and heard his voice coming from the enchanted teapot.
