Ishta, also known as The Guardian, was an ancient witch who became the oldest sister of the first sisterhood of the Charmed Ones after she and her fellow Charmed Ones drank from the Unity Bowl to defeat the first Conqueror. She and Ishani betrayed their sisterhood by entombing a power-hungry Inara alive. She also served as a guardian spirit of the Black Amber Tree underneath the Command Center for at least ten thousand years as a punishment, dedicated to guarding the past and protecting the future, before she sacrificed herself along with Ishani and Inara to save the magical world from destruction, but not before they reconciled their sisterly bond.

Ishta was a witch with heightened abilities due to her being a previous Charmed One. Along with her basic witch abilities (casting spells and brewing potions), Ishta had an unidentified ability to project a field of light. Furthermore, she could also access the Power of Three, the collective power of the Charmed Ones, allowing them to vanquish the most powerful of evil beings, such as demons. She had long since lost access to the Power of Three when she and Ishta entombed a power-hungry Inara alive and began the cycle of destruction for generations of Charmed Ones to come.

Powers and Abilities

Active Powers:

• Telekinesis - The ability to move objects with her mind. She possibly had that power when she was alive; however, she did not use that power when she was a ghost.

• 
  Telekinetic Immobilization - the power to telekinetically cause other beings to become motionless. Ishta's witch power is the ability to produce a field of telekinetic energy that can immobilize beings by wrapping the energy around them. She presumably used it to make herself appear a spectral ghost.

Passive Powers:

• Immunity: Being a witch, the Guardian was inherently immune to certain magical abilities (e.g., the sirens' songs and pixie dust).

Spirit Powers:

• Flight: The ability to defy gravity and propel oneself in any direction through the air. The Guardian can break up into wispy, spectral energy.

• Technopathy: The ability to communicate with modern technology and control it. The Guardian uses this to operate the system of the Command Center and to provide various protective measures.

• Dream Walking: The ability to project oneself into the dreams of another and manipulate them. Ishta was able to project herself into Macy Vaughn's dream world to converse with her shortly before her death.

Former Powers:

• The Power of Three - The collective power of the Charmed Ones stems from their sisterly bond. The Guardian and her sisters used their powers to protect innocent lives and vanquish demons, often invoking their joint "Power of Three" to defeat their enemies. Evidently, certain spells require the Power of Three and cannot be cast by even the most powerful witches, like Charity Callahan. Following the Guardian's death and her ascension as a Guardian, she has forever lost the Power of Three.

• Resistance: Presumably through the Power of Three, the Charmed Ones can resist the effects of having their memory erased to a certain extent, allowing the memories to slowly bleed back through.

Weaknesses:

• Death of Magic: Despite being dead, the Guardian is tied to the Black Amber Tree. If the tree dies, all magic dies with it, along with the Guardian.

Former Weaknesses:

• Mortality: Despite being a witch, the Guardian was still mortal and still had many of the same weaknesses as non-supernatural humans (e.g., age, decapitation, disease, heart failure, suffocation, snapped neck, etc.), until her death.

• The Destruction of the Sisterhood: Despite the Power of Three being one of her greatest strengths, it is also a burden. Being a Charmed One, the Guardian and her sisters were susceptible to the cycle of the sisterhood's destruction, where one Charmed One of each generation dies of unnatural causes due to the Power of Three. It is currently unknown which one in her sisterhood died in the cycle, whether it was the Guardian or one of her sisters.
